Eid Milad un Nabi 2027: Date in India and Meaning
Eid Milad un Nabi marks the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, most widely dated to 12 Rabi ul Awwal. It is a public holiday in India, and the Ahle Sunnat (Barelvi) tradition observes it with gatherings, naat and processions.

The date
Asked about fasting on Mondays, the Prophet said it was the day on which he was born (Sahih Muslim 1162). The 12th of Rabi ul Awwal is the date given by Ibn Ishaq, the Prophet's early biographer, and is the one most widely followed; early reports also give other days of the month.
How it is observed
- Ahle Sunnat (Barelvi) traditionMilad gatherings with recitation of the Prophet's life and naat, salam recited standing, decorations, and processions (juloos) on the 12th.
How other Sunni schools see it
Deobandi scholars generally regard a fixed annual celebration of the birth as an innovation (bid'ah), while affirming love of the Prophet and the merit of remembering his life. Ahle Hadith scholars reject the celebration. Ahle Sunnat scholars hold it to be a praiseworthy expression of love for the Prophet.
